AXA Dublin Fitout
A city centre office fitout project that presented many complexities in terms of accessibility due to a number of changes in levels within the buildings ground floor location. The concept for this project was the notion of a journey across 3no. distinct eras within the building, the most interesting being the original 1800’s element which merged with the 1960’s and the 1990’s larger campus elements.

We wanted the management and staff of AXA to have a sense of history within their space and as a result, each area became a district that used materials that reflected the buildings age. MCLA incorporated areas of exposed brickwork together with wrought iron railings on ramps and dark framed glazing to acknowledge the building’s past. A timber-floored walkway throughout the space laid in a herringbone pattern cleverly guides the user on a journey to all sections of the building – this walkway remains consistent throughout with the direction of the chevron/pattern acting as a method of wayfinding.
