School Architecture and Interior Design

Holy Child National School

This project involved the provision of a 2 Class SEN Unit in a central courtyard area within the school grounds ensuring seamless integration of the Special Educational with Mainstream accommodation within the overall school. The material finishes were both contemporary and sympathetic with the existing school in a manner agreed with Dublin City Council. The soft play area was connected directly into the Central Activity Space within the Unit and offered a safe and secure environment for the SEN students to play and engage with mainstream students within the courtyard area. The design of the Unit provides an abundance of natural light into the Central Activity Space, Classrooms from the large rooflights and windows. The external window surrounds on the extension allow for a clear but subtle differentiation between the old building and the new extension.
